Derry man, Gerry McMonagle, the Sinn Fein Mayor of Letterkenny, has met Prince Charles during his visit to Donegal.
Councillors and representatives, including Cllr McMonagle, laughed and joked with the Royal visitor as they commemorated his visit by presenting him with a framed picture (pictured).
The Prince was on a tour of Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT) when he met Cllr McMonagle, who offered a hand to the future British monarch.
Cllr McMonagle said welcoming Prince Charles and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, to Donegal was a difficult step for him as a republican.
However, he said as Mayor of Letterkenny, he had a duty to represent everyone.
He said during the visit, his thoughts were with the family of murdered Sinn Féin councillor Eddie Fullerton, who was shot day by loyalist gunmen 25 years ago today, and with the families of those who lost their lives on Bloody Sunday.
He also described Prince Charles' visit as a positive step in the peace process.
