A Derry woman has won a prestigious Community Health award.

Susan Gibson, manager of Derry Well Woman, was presented with a coveted King’s Fund award for Community Health at the GSK IMPACT Awards in London

Ms Gibson has been congratulated by Foyle SDLP MP Mark Durkan who met up with her at Westminster to support the work of Derry Well Woman and the launch of the King’s Fund Cascading Leadership Programme.

Mr Durkans said: “It was great to meet up with Susan and congratulate her on winning this prestigious award.

“I was also delighted to support the launch of a new innovative programme to develop leaders throughout the charity sector – the Cascading Leadership Programme.

“This programme will enable high performing charity leaders to share their skills and expertise with a wider pool of charities.

“Susan has now been appointed as a ‘Cascading Leader’ and will be supporting and mentoring groups in Northern Ireland.

Mr Durkan concluded: “I would also like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to the commendable work of staff and volunteers at Derry Well Woman who are doing so much to respond to the health and social care needs of women of all ages in the North West.”
