Death of former Derry republican prisoner, John Quigley

The death has taken place of one of Derry’s best known former republican prisoners, John Quigley.

The 63-year-old passed away peacefully in Altnagelvin Hospital earlier today.

A Tricolour was placed on his coffin on arrival at his Creggan home this evening.

His funeral will leave his home at 4 Greenwalk on Thursday at 11.20am for Requiem Mass at noon in St Mary’s Church, Creggan.

He will be laid to rest immediately afterwards in the City Cemetery.

The son of the late Barry and Maisie, he is survived by his brothers Declan, Terry, Paul, Kevin, Stephen, Brendan, Gerard, Billy and Jim and sisters Mary and Margaret.

He was predeceased by his brothers Barry and Tony.
