A 33-year-old Derry man threatened to kill his partner and three Housing Executive workers during an incident yesterday in the Waterside area of the city, a court was told today.
Robert Bovaird, from Bonds Hill, appeared before Derry Magistrates Court this afternoon.
He was charged with threatening to kill three men as well as assaulting the three men and a woman at an address in Nelson Drive yesterday.
He is further accused with possession of a knife and iron bar on the same date.
He is also charged with disorder behaviour and resisting arrest.
There were 12 charges in total.
Bovaird, who was wearing a red superman tee shirt, replied 'yes mam' when asked by a court clerk if he understood the charges.
Outlining the facts of the case, a PSNI officer told the court that police two painters restrained Bovaird when he arrived at his partner's home in an intoxicated state.
The court heard during the incident he produced an iron bar and threatened to kill the two workers and his partner who reported to police he had attempted to choke her.
The court was told Bovaird left only to return later brandishing a knife and again threatened to kill his partner.
The court heard he punched one of two workmen who prevented him going up the stairs and was forced to the ground when two additional workers arrived on the scene.
Objecting to bail, the police officer described the offences as serious and said there were fears he would reoffend and interfere with eitnesses.
The court heard the four workmen feared they would be stabbed and a one-year-old child was in the house at the time.
In response to defence solicitor, Keith Kyle, the police officer said Bovaird's partner did not wish the matter to come before the court.
Mr Kyle told the court the seriousness of the offence was not grounds to refuse bail.
Adding Bovaird had put forward a bail sddress that was 4-5 miles from the property were the alleged offences occurred, Mr Kyle told the court that his client had no convictions for domestic violence.
Bovaird was released on his own bail of £750 with a surety of £500 to reside at an address in Newbuildings.
