A man was treated for shock after his vehicle was washed away as he attempted to drive across as a river in the Dungiven area of Co Derry this morning.
A Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said they received a call at 9:51am to a report of an incident at the Crebarkey Road area.
Five fire appliances from Crescent Link Fire Station, one from Maghera Fire Station and one from Dungiven were assisted by the Special Rescue Team from and the Fire Emergency Support Service following a report that a vehicle had attempted to cross a river in the area.
A man, who had “self-rescued” from the 4x4 vehicle and was treated at the scene by Northern Ireland Ambulance Service for shock.
He not require hospital treatment following the incident.
