This is the in-depth look at the artist’s impression of the new sculpture to be erected in Derry to celebrate the city’s shirt factory workers.
Renowned Cork artist Louise Walsh has released the video of the structure to be located at the rear of the Guildhall, opposite the iconic Peace Bridge.
The idea to commemorate the thousands who worked in the city’s shirt factories was first raised by retired councillor Mary Bradley in 1992.
Ms Walsh was commissioned by the Department for Social Development to take the public art project forward in 2006 and worked together with local women on developing it.
