With winter here, the Western Health Trust is urging the public to think before making a visit to the hospital to help with infection prevention and control.

A spokesperson said: “As part of the Trust’s visiting policy we would like to remind the public that visitors are requested not to come to the hospital if they have had vomiting and/or diarrhoea and must not visit until they have been symptom free for 48 hours.

“Also, if you have had coughs, colds or flu-like symptoms or any infectious condition e.g. chickenpox, mumps, etc. do not visit friends and family at hospital as you may be putting them at risk of developing an infection.”

The spokesperson concluded: “By complying with to these guidelines you can help us to protect our patients.”
