Adverse weather conditions overnight have forced the cancellation of Magherafelt’s Christmas Market.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the Mid Ulster Council said: “Unfortunately the third day of the Magherafelt Christmas Market - Sunday 29 November - has been cancelled as a result of the severe weather conditions.

“Our apologies to anyone who was looking forward to the event today,” the spokesperson said.

Today, (Sunday) was the third and final day of the highly anticipated event.

Stalls that had been temporarily erected in the Diamond area of the town for event were found blown apart this morning.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for winds up to 60mph in exposed areas with heavy rain making driving conditions hazardous.
