A Derry schoolboy and his classmates have enjoyed the ‘red carpet’ treatment after winning an art competition.
Earlier this year, Nathan McFadden, a Primary 5 pupil at St Anne’s Primary School in Rosemount, won the competition to design a poster for the upcoming movie, ‘A Christmas Star’.
As part of his prize, Nathan and the rest of his class (pictured) travelled to Belfast this week for the world premiere of the star-studded movie.
Narrated by Ballymena actor Liam Neeson, ‘A Christmas Star’ also boasts a star-studded cast which includes Pierce Brosnan, Rob James Collier, Bronagh Waugh, Suranne Jones and Richard Clements.
It also features cameos from Kylie Minogue and Dermot O’Leary.
It was the first Christmas movie to be filmed in Northern Ireland.
The film will mark the 25th anniversary of Cinemagic’s International Film & Television Festival for Young People.
Set in the picturesque village of Pottersglen. It follows a young and spirited girl who, born in dramatic circumstances under the Christmas star, believes she has the gift to perform strange miracles.
The production included more than 40 trainee crew aged 18-25 and a handful of cast whittled down from the 5,000 who auditioned for parts.
Odyssey Cinemas in Belfast hosted the premiere.
‘A Christmas Star’ is in cinemas nationwide from November 13.
It will also be simulcast on UTV and BBC.
