DERRY 2-10, KERRY 1-24
Derry’s hopes of lifting the Tom Markham Cup for the first time since 2002 end in a heavy defeat to defending champions, Kerry, in their quarter-final clash at Croke Park this lunchtime.
Derry came from behind twice with goals from Patrick Quigg and Feargal Higgins to go in level at half-time of a scoreline 2-06 to 0-12.
After the restart, Kerry captain Sean O’Shea added an early goal to his three first half scores to put the Kingdom back in the lead.
The holders had obviously learned from their first half mistakes and they went on to add a further 12 points to run out comfortable winners on a scoreline of 1-24 to 2-10.
