Derry City fans who light flares during the Candy Stripes home matches are facing lifetime bans from the Brandywell.
It comes after the club was fined 750 euro by the FAI for the burning of flares during the win over Wexford Youths in the Airtricity Premier Division last month.
It brings the total of fines imposed on City for such offense to over 2,000 euro.
As a result, the club has now adopted a zero tolerance policy and has threatened to not only eject those responsible from the grounds, but to issue them with lifetime bans.
The club distributed leaflets to match going fans ahead of last week’s game against Dundalk which revealed the FAI’s latest fine on the club.
No flares were lit during that game.
Club Commercial and Marketing Manager, Orlaith Meenan, said that the club has now been forced to take action.
“We have asked fans to spread the word of just how detrimental the fines are to the club because we can’t afford to keep paying that money out," she explained. "Any fan caught with a flare from now on will be banned from the ground for life.
“We would appeal to the parents who are letting their children go to the Brandywell. If you have a child going with their friends, please explain the danger of flares.”
