When Maghera man, Terry Ledgewood set off on a fundraising expedition for the Fort Riding Centre in Co Derry, catching what appears to be a ghost on camera was the last thing he expected to happen.
Terry joined a team of volunteers who braved the elements to climb Slieve Donard in County Down for the fundraiser back in November.
On their descent, Terry and his friend John stopped at a well-known spot known locally as ‘The Saddle’ to take a photograph. It was only when Terry sent the image (pictured) to his wife that the ghostly figure was spotted.
Both men are sure that when the photo was taken, there were was no one behind them.
Speaking about mysterious photobomb, Terry said that it ‘can’t be explained.’
He said: “We were about halfway down the mountain when we stopped to take a photo. We had all split into different groups but we were on of the last ones down from the top. There was fella that was further behind us but he was wearing a red had, so the figure isn’t him.
“The weather conditions on the day were really bad but when we took the photo, there was definitely no one behind us. I looked at the photograph at the time but I never passed any remarks on it. It was only when I sent to my wife and sister that they replies asking who it was behind us.
“When we got back to Newcastle, I asked locals in a few of the bars and restaurant but they couldn’t come up with any explanation.
“On the day, everything seemed normal enough it wasn’t a pleasant place to be. It could be anything or anyone. It still remains a bit of mystery,” he said.
