An announcement from the Infastructure Minister Chris Hazard that £4 million has been allocated for the maintenance of rural roads in the Western Division has been welcomed by Derry Sinn Fein Cllr Paul Fleming.
Cllr Fleming, leader of the Sinn Fein grouping on Derry City and Strabane District Council, said Section Engineers were currently assessing roads system to identify those in greatest need so that they could develop a programme of schemes for implementation.
He added contractors have been advised of the funding and would be “in readiness” to commence works as soon as the programmes were completed.
