Man taken to hospital after being kicked and punched in the head

Police in Derry are investigating the report of an assault in which a man was kicked and punched in the head.

The man reported being punched and kicked by a male of a man in the early hours of Wednesday 15th June sometime between 1.00am and 1.30am in the area of Crawford Square.

He was later taken to hospital and treated for cuts to his head.

Constable Monica McColgan has appealed to anyone who may have seen a male, described as being of medium build and wearing a black jumper, jeans and brown boots in the vicinity of North Edward Street, Clarendon Street, Northland Road or Crawford Square at the time of the assault to contact officers at Strand Road on 101 quoting reference 84 15/06/16.

She said Information could also be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
