A LATE, late free in the 5th minute of injury time by Danny Tallon saw Glen edge home in their 1-12 to 1-11 win over Kilrea on Monday night.

Tallon and Conor Convery with seven points between them navigated Glen into the lead.  With half-time approaching Benny Quigg’s goal from the penalty spot handed the Pearses a passport back into the game.

Enda Gormley had several absentees including county duo Emmett Bradley and Ciaran McFaul but Tommy McCloy won the second half throw in and fed Ryan Winton who fired to the net – opening up a gap between the teams.

Kilrea, with points from James Kielt, wrestled themselves back into what was an entertaining game.  Ryan Dougan marked his return from injury with a vital Glen point but Kilrea brought the sides level before Tallon grabbed the dramatic winner.

Glen Scorers: Danny Tallon 0-6 (0-4 frees), Ryan Winton 1-1, Conor Convery 0-3, Paul Gunning and Ryan Dougan 0-1 each.

Kilrea Scorers: James Kielt 0-5, (0-2 frees), Benny Quigg 1-1, (1-0 pen, 0-1 free), Charlie Kielt 0-2, Paddy McNeill, Brian Óg McAlary, Denver Johnston 0-1 each.
