Ireland are deserved half time leaders at the Aviva as a 30th minute goal from the in form Shane Long has them 1-0 up against Holland.
The boys in green have enjoyed the better of the possession in a low key first half where Derry's Shane Duffy has looked composed at centre half while Donegal's Seamus Coleman (pictured) has pushed up the right channel at every opportunity.
The key moment of the half came from a Robbie Brady corner from the right side where John O'Shea's header goalward was blocked on the line and Long followed up to bundle over from close range.
Ipswich Town's David McGoldrick has linked up play well in the hole behind striker Long in a performance that will give Martin O'Neill plenty of food for thought ahead of confirmation of his final squad of 23 on Tuesday night.
O'Neill is expected to make a number of substitutions in the second half including what could be an Aviva swansong for record goalscorer Robbie Keane.
