The Mayor of Derry has praised a Derry restaurant after it scooped the prestigious 2016 best Restaurant and Champagne Lounge in Ulster Award.

Extending her congratulations to Browns Restaurant, Cllr Elisha McCallion said she was delighted the restaurant had received the prestigious accolade and paid tribute its staff for their “hard work and commitment.”

“The city and district is really making a name for itself as an exciting food tourism destination.

“Our recent success as one of Ireland’s leading Foodie Towns is evidence of the great work that is being done to work with food industry professionals and suppliers to raise the standards and meet growing expectations to secure our goal of being one of the best locations in terms of culinary talent and taste.”

She concluded: “Browns is one of a number of top quality eating establishments in the Council area that continues to grow as a foodie destination of note and is taking pride of place in our efforts to promote our food offering as part of the NI Year of Food 2016.”
