Big north-west derby games are always a special occasion.

Finn Harps notched up only their second ever win over Derry City in a league game as they beat the Candystripes 2-1 in the opening game of the SSE Airtricity League campaign at Finn Park last night.

The first Harps goal was scored by Dave Scully on his debut.

And the second was scored by Ryan Curran - who joined Harps from Derry having played almost 50 times for the Brandywell club.

Curran, a son of City legend Paul Curran, dashed through to score the goal that put Harps 2-0 up with 15 minutes to go. Rory Patterson pulled a goal back for Derry on 90 minutes.

He gave his reaction afterwards to Donegal Now.
