There was a great turnout for the St. Johnston 5k, which marked the start of the Lifford AC three-race spring series.
The event, in cool but almost ideal conditions, was won by Keith Shiels in a fabulous time of 15 minutes, 52 seconds, ahead of Matt Doherty of Derry Track Club.
Athletics from many parts of Donegal, as well as some from Derry and Tyrone, also took part. Third placed John McCallion runs for Limerick AC.
Great credit goes to the organisers and all involved. The second race of the series is in Raphoe next Sunday.
