Gurney’s clash with world champ to be screened live on Sky Sports

Derry professional Daryl Gurney is hoping for a Christmas cracker when he takes on world champion Gary Anderson in the second round of the PDC World Darts Championship at Alexander Palace tonight, a game that will be screened live on Sky Sports.
.
The Waterside man qualified for the second round for the fourth time in his career when he defeated Jamie Lewis in the first round last week.

The 29-year-old, who defeated Anderson in the recent Players Championship, will be last on stage on tonight, with all the action getting underway at 6.00pm.

Last month Gurney sensationally beat Anderson in the second round of the Players Championships at Butlins' Minehead, before succumbing to world number one Michael van Gerwen in the semi-finals.

Gurney, guaranteed a £15,000 pay packet by reaching the second round, is looking forward to his clash with Anderson.

He said "This is the best stage in the world, what with the crowd, all my family, friends and sponsors here. This is where it matters the most.

I’ll prepare the exact same way, nothing extra, nothing less.

“I’ll do my couple of hours practice on the dart board, I’ll do my doubles, trebles, finishes and I’ll do everything the exact same, nothing changes for any player. As long as I prepare myself right, I’m happy enough to take on anyone.”
