Derry's 'Storm Troopers' turn out in force for midnight screenings of latest Star Wars epic

Derry sci-fi fans have turned out in force to be among the first in the world to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Hundreds began queuing at the Brunswick Superbowl hours ahead of the 12.05am and 12.10am sell-out screenings of JJ Abrams spectacular blockbuster which is set to become the biggest grossing movie of all time.

The film had its world premiere in Los Angeles on Monday and will go on general release in America tomorrow.

Leading critics have hailed it as "a triumph" and "a classic."

It will be screened at the Derry cinema every day until Sunday, 3 January (except Christmas Day) with times ranging from 11.40am to 10.00pm.
